Manchester City have reportedly initiated contact with Real Madrid over the transfer of midfielder Mateo Kovacic, who has also been linked with Chelsea.
The Croatia international has not always been a regular in the Real Madrid team, so could be open to a summer move away in order to get the playing time he craves.

In fact, Kovacic has been open about the fact that he wants to quit his current club, which has only fuelled speculation that Premier League sides could swoop for him.
Most recently, Don Balon reported that Chelsea were considering paying as much as €100million for the 24-year-old, but now the Daily Mirror state Manchester City have enquired about him.
This is due to City facing difficulties in signing Jorginho from Napoli as they search for a top class central midfield signing for the summer, says the Mirror.
That report adds that Jorginho is now being linked with Chelsea, so it could be that these two Premier League rivals end up battling it out for two players this summer.
