Thomas Lemar (Monaco)
Next on United’s list is Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, likely to cost the club as much as £90million, according to the Times.
The France international has been superb in Ligue 1 and could be a major upgrade on the inconsistent Martial on that left-hand side, being a more natural wide-player.
With pace and quality from his crosses, Lemar would be the ideal fit to get balls into the box for Lukaku next season and help improve United’s productivity in the final third.
Liverpool and Arsenal have also been strongly linked with the talented 22-year-old, but it seems United could have the edge in this transfer battle due to their superior finances.
Even with Martial leaving, could a front four of Lemar, Mertens, Sanchez and Lukaku be the best attack in Europe next season? It’s hard to think of one better on paper, so now Mourinho just has to make sure his own management style doesn’t hold this quartet back from fulfilling its potential.
