Man City are close to agreeing a loan deal with fellow Premier League side Everton for French defender Eliaquim Mangala.

This is according to Sky Sports, who state that the former Porto star is ready to undergo at medical at the Toffee’s training ground, with the two side’s agreeing a deal ‘in principle’ for the player.

The news outlet are also reporting that the deal is set to be one that lasts until the end of the season, meaning that Mangala should get some much needed game time should the deal go through.

Since moving to Man City from Portuguese side Porto in the summer of 2014, Mangala has failed to make his mark at the Etihad.

The Frenchman has managed to make a total of 79 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side since his move, grabbing three assists in the process.

So far this season, Mangala has found himself somewhat out-of-favour with the Premier League table-toppers, with the player only making 15 appearances in all competitions.

The player’s lack of technical ability and composure has seen boss Guardiola somewhat shun the defender this campaign.

Should Mangala’s deal go through, it’ll be interesting to see if the player can find the form we saw him achieve during his time in Spain with Valencia last season.
