Arsenal have reportedly made a deadline day bid for Roma’s Kostas Manolas in the region of £25m with a complicated wage structure included.
Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli has stated that Arsenal have made a £25m move for Manolas after deals for Chelsea defender David Luiz and West Brom defender Johnny Evans failed to materialise.
A report from Sky Sports today revealed that West Brom turned down a late bid from Arsenal for Johnny Evans after the Gunners failed to meet that Baggies valuation of their defender.
It appears that Wenger and Arsenal then turned their attentions to Serie A as they looked to make a move for Manolas.
It was perhaps last night’s loss to Swansea that prompted a frantic deadline day attempt to bring in new defensive quality from Arsenal.
Arsenal lost 3-1 to Swansea last night with defensive mistakes leading to both Swansea’s second and third goals.
However, whether Arsenal will be able to pull off a late deal for Manolas remains unlikely in the little time they have left.
