Chelsea and Arsenal remain in talks over the transfer of Olivier Giroud, but have not yet reached a full agreement on the deal, according to the Daily Mirror.
The report states that the move should still be done today, but that it could be that Arsenal will still demand more money as Chelsea try to get the deal done on the cheap.
The Mirror claim Arsenal initially wanted as much as £30million for the France international, who has been a key player for the Gunners since moving to the Emirates Stadium back in 2012.
Chelsea, however, seem to have got that fee down to around £18m, though the Mirror claim there could be various add-ons and bonuses holding things up.
Giroud’s agent is said to be in London to sort things out as the transfer deadline draws nearer, but Arsenal should in theory be in control in negotiations.
The north London giants have already finalised the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund, and have done so without needing to sell.
It seems unlikely that the Giroud deal will fall through, but the Gunners would be the big winners if it did as they would have three top class centre-forwards to choose from in the form of Aubameyang, Giroud and Alexandre Lacazette.
