Arsenal are reportedly ready to swoop for unsettled Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi in the January transfer window and could meet his £35million release clause.
The France international hasn’t played as much for Sevilla recently and is claimed to have fallen out with manager Eduardo Berizzo.
According to the Sun, this could tempt Arsenal into moving again for N’Zonzi after initially looking at him in the summer, though Everton are now also after him.
Arsene Wenger could do with a player of N’Zonzi’s quality in the middle of the park, with the likes of Granit Xhaka and Francis Coquelin not looking good enough to be first choice in that area for a top club.
N’Zonzi has played in England before with Stoke City and Blackburn, but has improved tremendously at Sevilla and stood out as one of the top defensive midfield players in Europe last season.

The 28-year-old would surely be a bargain at £35m if the Sun’s reports on his buy-out clause are correct, so money shouldn’t be an issue even for the famously frugal Wenger.
Recent claims by the Daily Mirror also suggest Arsenal are looking at Schalke contract rebel Leon Goretzka, so a new midfielder does seem to be on Wenger’s agenda at the moment.
