Arsenal look to be making progress on a stunning four-man transfer overhaul as Arsene Wenger prepares to make changes to a squad likely to lose Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
The Gunners pair are being linked with Manchester City and Manchester United, respectively, but it seems Wenger has a number of names up his sleeve in a bid to boost his squad.
While it is as yet uncertain if all four of these names can be brought in, reports suggest they are looking increasingly likely.
With attack clearly a priority, it is little surprise to see Arsenal linked with three big names in that area of the pitch, while they could also shore up in that problem position of central midfield.
Here’s a look at Arsenal’s four main rumoured targets:
Thomas Lemar
First up, speculation is mounting that Arsenal are set to revive their interest in Monaco winger Thomas Lemar this January after missing out on him in the summer.
The France international shone for Monaco last season with double figures for goals and assists in all competitions, and looks ideally suited to this Arsenal side.
Arsenal’s hopes have been significantly boosted by the claim that Lemar now wants to leave Monaco despite being less sure about doing so when Arsenal came in for him at the end of the summer transfer window.
Julian Draxler
Another option in attack could be PSG winger Julian Draxler, with reports emerging today that Arsenal will battle Liverpool for the Germany international’s signature this winter.
The 24-year-old could be available this January as PSG look to offload some big names to keep up with Financial Fair Play laws.
Draxler looks an ideal fit for Arsenal and has been linked with them many times in the past as Wenger is a known long-term fan of his.
Karim Benzema
Recent developments suggest Real Madrid are now open to selling Karim Benzema to Arsenal after their increased interest amid the ongoing Alexis Sanchez saga.
The experienced front-man has not been at his best for Los Blancos this term, but still looks an ideal purchase for the north Londoners in an area that will badly need an injection of quality and know-how.
Real Madrid have been linked with the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Mauro Icardi of late, so it seems unlikely Benzema will be at the Bernabeu for much longer.
Marouane Fellaini
Finally, Arsenal could raid rivals Manchester United with a move to sign contract rebel Marouane Fellaini on a free transfer if recent reports are to be believed.
The Belgium international is edging closer and closer to the Old Trafford exit, with Jose Mourinho quoted this week as saying he feared losing him.
Other clubs will no doubt show an interest, but Arsenal would do well to bring in Fellaini to add some much-needed physique and battling qualities to their fragile central midfield.
