Liverpool fans agree with former LFC man as he slams under-fire star

Liverpool flop Moreno could extend stay at club

It’s not a good time to be Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno right now as he’s back in the firing line after his display against Sevilla.

The Spaniard has been criticised in the past for his suspect defensive abilities, and they were exposed again in the Champions League in midweek.

Liverpool as a whole have been poor defensively this season and so he can’t be blamed for all their troubles, while he had done well to work his way back into the starting line-up and produce improved performances.

However, it seemingly hasn’t lasted and former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann has taken exception to a particular comment that he made after the Sevilla game.

“It’s beautiful to return home, to know that your family and friends are in the stands and to play in front of your former fans,” the 25-year-old said after the game, as reported by the Metro. “But I cannot be happy with the result and letting go of a 3-0 lead.”

While he went on to reiterate that he was bitterly disappointed with the result and mistakes, Hamann took him to task on that initial comment about playing in front of his former fans, as seen in the tweet below.

It appears as though the outspoken former German international has got the majority of the support from fans on his side too as they replied to his comment agreeing.

Having replaced James Milner in the line-up and held off competition from summer signing Andy Robertson, it remains to be seen whether or not Klopp continues to show faith in Moreno or if the Liverpool boss opts to make a change again.

Either way, it’s a worrying situation for the former Sevilla man as ultimately it looks as though he’ll struggle to entirely get his defensive lapses out of his game and that will lead to more pressure on his and Klopp’s shoulders to make the right decisions.
