- Feyenoord fans pay tribute to Brad Jones’ son who tragically died
- Supporters lit up De Kuip with their mobile phones
- Rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ rang around the stadium
It would have been an emotional day for Feyenoord goalkeeper Brad Jones on Saturday, as it marked six years since the tragic death of his son.
The 35-year-old was in action for the Dutch giants against VVV-Venlo and while they were held to a 1-1 draw and sit in sixth place in the Eredivisie standings, this moment has unsurprisingly made the headlines.
As well as singing a rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, the Feyenoord supporters lit up the De Kuip stadium with their mobile phones in a show of support for the shot-stopper, while the club also offered their public support with the tweet below.
The former Liverpool and Middlesbrough goalkeeper lost his son, Luca, at the age of just five after a battle with leukaemia, but receiving support like this from the supporters will undoubtedly have helped him get through a difficult day.
