Arsenal are reportedly cooling their interest in Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, which could hand Liverpool the perfect chance to complete the transfer instead.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Gunners are not keen on meeting Monaco’s demands for the France international after failing with a £90million bid for him in the summer.
Liverpool and Barcelona are also mentioned as admirers, and while Arsenal are also likely to be in need of attacking players in the near future, it seems Jurgen Klopp may be given an easier run at replacing unsettled star Philippe Coutinho.
Mundo Deportivo claimed the Brazilian was left in tears after his move to Barca broke down in the summer, but Don Balon claim the Catalan giants are confident of finally bringing him in in January.
Given Coutinho’s importance to Liverpool over the years, there’s little chance Klopp can afford not to replace him, but Lemar looks an ideal candidate to fill that void on the left-hand side.

The 22-year-old has both the pace, creativity and eye for goal to do real damage in the Premier League, and his asking price shouldn’t cause too much trouble for Liverpool if they receive a big offer for Coutinho.
The Daily Mirror recently reported that Klopp would be given the full £130million to reinvest in his squad if Barcelona launch that kind of bid for him in the winter.
