Liverpool will have to dig deep into their pockets for this star…

It’s being reported that Portuguese giants Benfica have slapped a huge price tag on this player’s head, and should Liverpool want to sign him, they’ll have to cough up an almost club-record fee.

Spanish international Alex Grimaldo, who joined the club from Barcelona, is reportedly a target for Jurgen Klopp’s side according to Calcio Mercato, however it’ll cost the Premier League side at least £35M (€40M) if they are to go ahead with their reported interest in the player, as this is the asking price Benfica have for the ace.

Grimaldo

Since joining the club from Catalan giants Barca in 2015, Grimaldo has been decent for Rui Vitoria’s side.

In 37 first team appearances for his side, the left-back has managed to amass a record of two goals and six assists, a decent record.

Last season, the Spaniard enjoyed a fairly successful spell for the Portuguese side, as the defender clocked up two goals and four assists in just 14 league appearances, meaning that the player contributed directly to a goal almost every other game.

Throughout his career, Grimaldo has primarily been deployed a left-back, however the 22-year-old has occasionally been used as a left winger and a central midfielder.

If Liverpool are serious about signing the player, it’ll be interesting to see if the Reds meet Benfica’s asking price for the Spaniard.
