Tottenham will tonight host German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund at Wembley as they look to get their Champions League campaign off to a winning start.
English midfielder Dele Alli will miss tonight’s important clash due to a suspension he picked up during the club’s Europa League tie against Gent last season. This is only the first match of three that Alli is set to miss following the repercussions from last season’s dismissal. The English star is sure to be a huge miss for the North London side.
However, Sky Sports expect £23m summer signing Serge Aurier to make his first appearance for the club since signing from PSG. (Fee per BBC)
The reports suggests that Erik Lamela (hip), Victor Wanyama (knee) and Danny Rose (knee) are all set to remain on the sidelines. However, injured winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou is reportedly close to making a return to first-team action after sustaining a serious foot injury but will still be unlikely to feature in tonight’s fixture.
Borussia Dortmund will be without defender Marc Bartra who is sidelined with a groin injury and captain Marcel Schmelzer is enduring a long period on the sidelines after recently tearing his ankle ligaments.
Spurs will hope to get off to a good start tonight after being placed in what many are calling a ‘group of death’ which also features Champions League holder’s Real Madrid.
