Manchester City have accepted a £20m bid from Crystal Palace for out-of-favour defender Eliaquim Mangala.
The Evening Standard claim the Eagles are hoping the French defender will be steady the sinking ship after a disastrous start has seen manager Frank de Boer lose all three of his opening Premier League fixtures.
The 26-year-old spent last season on loan at Valencia starting 33 games as they finished 12th in La Liga.
Mangala has made 65 appearances for Manchester City since arriving from Porto in 2014 for £32m, per BBC Sport.
He last played for City in a competitive match during the side’s 1-1 draw with Swansea in May 2016, although has featured since in several games this pre-season.
Palace have been linked with also bringing in Liverpool centre-half Mamadou Sakho who impressed during his short stint at Selhurst Park despite having had three bids already rejected by the Merseyside club, per Sky Sports.
The move is a positive one for both parties but Palace fans will hope de Boer doesn’t see him as the ultimate answer in a defence full of open cracks.
