Man City set to beat Arsenal in race for £30M Premier League star, player uninterested in Gunners transfer

Arsenal could revive their transfer pursuit of West Brom's Jonny Evans this January

West Brom and Northern Ireland defender Jonny Evans is set to turn down a move to Arsenal in favour of joining Pep Guardiola’s side Manchester City, with the Baggies willing to hold out for £30M for the centre-back, according to the Daily Mail.

Guardiola has targeted Evans, 29, as his fourth option in the centre of defence, with the fact that the player’s left-footed being seen as complimenting the options that are available to him as per the Daily Mail, with Arsenal having made a late move to try and tempt the Baggies star into moving to the Emirates, however the defender isn’t interested in making the move to north London.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the Gunners have made an enquiry for Evans, who West Brom have turned a £23M bid from Leicester for already this summer, however Arsene Wenger’s are yet to lodge a formal bid at this stage of the transfer window.

The Daily Mail understand that West Brom are willing to hold out for £30M, with City needed to move on defender Eliaquim Mangala before they make a move for 29-year-old Evans.

Should City secure a move for West Brom star Evans, it’ll be interesting to see how much game time the Northern Ireland international gets under boss Guardiola this season.
