Chelsea are reportedly monitoring the progress of Billy Gilmour and Daishawn Redan of Rangers and Ajax respectively, with a view of tying up deals.
The Blues boast plenty of young talent already with many of their young stars out on loan, with the strategy being heavily criticised by others.
However, it doesn’t appear to be putting the Premier League leaders off, as according to The Mirror, both Gilmour and Redan are on the radar and Chelsea are closing in on signing both.
It’s added that Gilmour, 15, is close to agreeing a deal, and it would be quite the scoop for Chelsea given that the teenager is considered one of the best youth prospects to come out of Scotland in many years.
Further, it’s claimed that Antonio Conte’s side will beat the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and both Manchester clubs to the signing of Gilmour, which is another indication of how good clubs think he will be.
Meanwhile, it’s the same scenario with Redan as the Dutch youngster is attracting plenty of interest with Manchester City, United and RB Leipzig all keen, but Chelsea are trying to force their way to the front of the queue, as per the Mirror.
The 16-year-old has similarly impressed many at such a young age, and it seems as though Chelsea are ready to pounce and try to make a deal happen.
Naturally though, given their age, there are plenty of question marks surrounding them. With a long way to go before they develop into first-team regulars, it will be seen as quite a gamble by Chelsea to spend significant money on the pair at this stage.
