Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho and rivals Man City are reportedly set to both miss out on the signing of highly-rated teenage sensation Daishawn Redan.

Given their appeal across the world and spending power, the Premier League giants would expect to take priority over their European rivals in the transfer market when they target specific players.

It hasn’t gone to plan on this occasion it seems as according to ESPN FC, Redan is close to signing with RB Leipzig as they look to build on this season and possibly prepare for the Champions League next year.

Redan has been on the radar for United and City for some time according to the report, while Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with an interest.

It’s no surprise given that the 16-year-old is regarded as one of the top talents in Europe, and he’s shown that with 19 goals so far this season at youth level, as per the report.

Naturally, Ajax have been trying to secure his future with a new contract as the Eredivisie giants will not want to lose him at this early stage in his career, but it appears as though they may be fighting a losing battle as Leipzig are growing confident that they will prise him away to Germany.

Should United and City miss out and it’s shown that they were both keen on signing Redan, it will be a real disappointment for them and supporters as they should certainly be asserting themselves in the transfer market this summer with both Mourinho and Guardiola likely to continue to strengthen their respective squads.
