AC Milan’s new sporting director Massimo Mirabelli has been a busy man according to reports, scouting potential summer targets for the club.
Mirabelli is a key figure in Sino-Europe Sports’ plans as they look set to complete their takeover of the Rossoneri on March 3.
While that is expected to go through on schedule, it hasn’t stopped Mirabelli and new CEO Marco Fassone from watching various transfer targets ahead of the summer window.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, several players have been already been the focus of their attention in European competition this week, and their tour continues this weekend as they plan on attending Serie A matches with a view of getting a close look at certain individuals.
Alexis Sanchez, Federico Bernardeschi, Mahmoud Dahoud, Christoph Kramer, Franck Kessie, Alejandro Gomez and Keita Balde have all already been under the spotlight so far this week, and they are reportedly set to be joined by Luis Muriel, Lucas Torreira and Patrick Schick by the end of the weekend.
There’s no suggestion that all these players will be signed, but it’s certainly interesting to see which individuals are being reportedly looked at and in turn which areas of the current squad the club feel needs strengthening.
Meanwhile, Corriere dello Sport have also commented on the ongoing speculation surrounding the club, as they believe big changes are expected at the San Siro over the summer.
Gianluigi Donnarumma and Suso are set to be offered contract renewals as the incoming ownership see them as indispensable figures in the current group, but the likes of Keisuke Honda, Andrea Poli and Carlos Bacca face uncertain futures.
In terms of possible targets, it’s reported that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be offered a second chance at Milan, while Keita, Coretin Tolisso and Luiz Gustavo are also on the agenda.
It’s an exciting time for Milan supporters to see that they could finally see the club possess the investment to take them back to the top. However, throwing money at the problem isn’t the only solution, they must be methodical and sensible with their spending to ensure Montella has a well-balanced and talented squad.
