Chelsea want two new wing backs in January to strengthen their squad in the wide areas.
That’s according to today’s Times, which carries an exclusive on the Blues’ transfer plans for this winter.
It is alleged that Antonio Conte wants not one but two replacement wing backs to compete with Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses for their place in the team. Chelsea currently have little cover in those positions, so a double swoop does make some sense.
The two players it is suggested the Blues are after are West Ham’s aerial menace Michail Antonio and Koln’s German international Jonas Hector. Neither would be unobtainable by any means, but to buy both would require some serious outlay from the Blues, and it would be a real surprise if it happens.
One concern will be how the affects the future of versatile full back Ola Aina, who played half an hour in the FA Cup tie against Peterborough this week.
