Chelsea are clearly very happy with their summer purchase from Fiorentina – Marco Alonso – because they’re going back to see what else is in stock this January.
This time it is midfielder Milan Badelj who has interested the Blues, according to Spanish transfer rumours site Fichajes.
The Croatian midfielder is seen as an ideal backup for N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic as a high energy, tough tackling enforcer with plenty of ability on the ball too. With Cesc Fabregas and John Obi Mikel both looking set to leave in the summer or sooner, Chelsea’s interest in midfield reinforcements is no surprise.
However, given that Mikel is likely to leave on a free, with his contract expiring this summer; and Fabregas not seeming to attract much attention beyond loan bids, Antonio Conte won’t be able to generate much – if any – money from selling them. The Italian manager will have to hope that Roman Abramovich has enjoyed what he’s seen from his team this season and will be willing to spend some money.
