Manchester United have been dealt a Henrikh Mkhitaryan injury blow after the Armenia captain limped out of his country’s 3-0 defeat to the Czech Republic earlier this week.
Mkhitaryan was taken off in the 38th minute on Wednesday night with a thigh problem in his left leg.
And the Armenian FA have today released a statement on the injury.
The statement read: “As reported, senior national team captain Henrikh Mkhitaryan received an injury against Czech Republic and as a result was unable to continue the match.
“Mkhitaryan has had a medical examination in a clinic in Mlada Boleslav. Unfortunately, the results are not encouraging.
“Mkhitaryan was found to have an injury in the lower third of the left thigh muscle. Such injuries usually require a week to 10 days to heal, which means that Mkhitaryan will miss the Denmark-Armenia match on September 4th.”

United’s next match is in just nine days against Manchester City at Old Trafford.
It remains to be seen whether Mkhitaryan will be fit for the Manchester Derby, but it seems unlikely that he will start the match.
Mkhitaryan has yet to start in any of his first four appearances for the Red Devils, coming off the bench in wins over Leicester City, Bournemouth, Southampton and Hull City.
After hosting City, United visit Feyenoord in the Europa League five days later.
