Liverpool have reportedly submitted a shock £30m bid for Gremio forward Luan as the race is on for Jurgen Klopp to wrap up the deal ahead of the deadline.
The 23-year-old starred at the Olympics earlier this month after scoring twice in five outings, playing an important role for the hosts as they claimed gold on home turf.
As with many of his teammates, he has now been linked with a switch to Europe this summer, and according to Brazilian radio station Futebol de Gaucha, as noted by The Telegraph, it appears as though Liverpool are ready to swoop for him.
It’s added in the report that Manchester United have previously shown interest in the forward, but their Premier League rivals have now moved to the front of the queue after submitting an offer.
Gremio vice-president Alberto Guerra conceded last week that the club would consider offers if they arrived, and it appears as though they may have a difficult decision to make over Luan.
The Brazilian ace has scored 20 goals in 90 appearances in all competitions for his current club, and if he were to arrive at Anfield, he would join several compatriots including the likes of Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho.
Whether or not he would be able to have the same influence in the Premier League is up for debate, while there is also the fact that Jurgen Klopp is already blessed with several attacking options and another could add further competition for no reason at a high price.
Nevertheless, it could be argued that it would be another possible blow to Daniel Sturridge, who has already found himself on the bench this season and could drop further down the pecking order if a move for Luan materialises.
