Galatasaray sporting director Levent Nazifoglu has confirmed that the Lions are actively pursuing Manchester City’s out-of-favour defender Jason Denayer.

The 21-year-old defender has been left out of Pep Guardiola’s squad for City’s opening three games this season.

Denayer spent last season out on loan at Galatasaray where he made 28 appearances for the Istanbul giants.

Nazifoglu told Eren Sarigul “I do not think we have an abundance in defence.

“If we can agree with Manchester City [for Jason Denayer] then we can say that.”

Meanwhile the Turkish outlet Ahaber state that Galatasaray manager Jan olde Riekerink is also keen to add Denayer to the squad this summer.

Arsenal are also understood to be in the race to sign  Denayer according to The Sun. Arsenal are currently facing a defensive crisis following injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel.

Per-the-source, City are demanding £12 million for the Belgium international defender. Despite joining Manchester City from JMG Lier back in 2013, Denayer currently has no Premier League.

City host West Ham United at the Etihad in this weekends Premier League clash as Pep Guardiola’s side looks to make it three wins in three games.
