Top 10 transfers of summer so far: Manchester United marquee man leads way as Juventus feature heavily

It’s been a relatively busy summer in the transfer market thus far, and it promises to get even busier in the last month before the deadline.

All the below players have now officially been unveiled by their respective new clubs, and so there is no element of speculation.

While others such as Andre Gomes, Sadio Mane and a handful of new Borussia Dortmund recruits will also potentially be worthy of being mentioned on this list, here are 10 of the best transfers so far this summer:

Samuel Umtiti to Barcelona

The Catalan giants needed to address their defence this summer, and they believe that they’ve brought in a long-term solution in the French international.

Combined with the arrival of Lucas Digne, Luis Enrique will feel even more confident about the solidity of his backline this season.

Grzegorz Krychowiak to Paris Saint-Germain

After forming an integral part of Sevilla’s success in recent times coupled with his displays at Euro 2016, Krychowiak has moved on to Paris where he will hope to play an influential role in the club’s bid to win trophies.

Back with coach Unai Emery after he moved to the French capital this summer too, the pair will hope to deliver the same level of success in Ligue 1.

Dani Alves to Juventus

The experienced veteran left Barcelona on a free transfer this summer, and Juve were the winners in this one as they bolstered their squad further.

With eyes on the Champions League this season, the Bianconeri have a seasoned professional with a winning mentality now manning their right flank.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester United

With his contract at PSG expiring, the Swedish forward had a big decision to make this summer, and he opted for a reunion with Jose Mourinho in Manchester.

It took just a few minutes for him to score on his debut in a pre-season friendly last weekend, and he’ll be tasked with adding some flair, excitement and delivering trophies as the focal point of the United attack.

Kevin Gameiro to Atletico Madrid

Linked with a move to Barca, the French striker decided to join Diego Simeone’s side this summer and will now pair up with compatriot Antoine Griezmann.

The duo have a chance to form a prolific partnership to take Atleti to the next level, but time will tell whether they deliver.

Mario Gotze to Dortmund

His time in Munich didn’t work out as planned, and so Gotze has returned to his former club and will hope that Thomas Tuchel can get him back on the right track consistently.

Still only 24 years of age, the World Cup winner will hope to rediscover his best form and play a big role in helping Dortmund deny Bayern further domination.

Mats Hummels to Bayern Munich

In contrast, Hummels swapped Dortmund for Bayern last month, and he’ll now link up with Manuel Neuer and Jerome Boateng to recreate their formidable international partnership.

The classy German ace will compliment his teammates well, and the Bavarian giants will be a force to be reckoned with in Europe this season.

Miralem Pjanic to Juventus

After starring for Roma in recent years, the Bosnian international will take his talents to Turin this season to potentially replace Paul Pogba as he nears a move to Manchester United.

With the additional creativity he provides, Juve will be a more dangerous attacking unit and will look to Pjanic to pull the strings in midfield.

Renato Sanches to Bayern Munich

The youngster had already made a big impression at Benfica, but he took his reputation to the next level at Euro 2016 earlier this summer.

A powerful and driving force in midfield, he will be a quality addition to the Bayern squad and will look to continue to develop into a top player under Carlo Ancelotti.

Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus

The Argentine striker scored 36 goals in 35 Serie A appearances last season for Napoli, but he’s opted to make the move to their direct Scudetto rivals.

While he may have been an expensive acquisition, the 28-year-old has proven his class and appears ready to fire the Turin giants to further success both at home and in Europe this season.
