Arsenal in race with Spanish giants for £16.8m midfield target

Oguzhan Ozyakup is being linked with a transfer back to Arsenal

La Liga outfit Valencia have joined the race for Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozykaup according to Fanatik.

The report claims that Los Che are in pursuit of a replacement Andre Gomes who joined Barcelona last week.

The Daily Star [via Deporte Valenciano] meanwhile report that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is eyeing a move for the Turkish intentional midfielder.

Per the source, Arsenal are also in the race for Ozyakup and Arsene Wenger knows all about the 23-year-old considering his past.

Ozyakup was an Arsenal youth player before joining Besiktas in pursuit of first-team football back in 2012.

The young midfielder has gone onto become a key player for the Black Eagles and played a vital role for the title winners last season.

Besiktas want to keep hold of Ozyakup with Champions League football looming and he does have another two-years remaining on his current deal. The Istanbul giants would however, be tempted by a £16.8 million transfer fee.

The former Arsenal man scored 10 times and provided eight assists for the Super Lig champions in all competitions last season.
