Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane hasn’t given up hope of signing Paul Pogba from Juventus according to the Express.
The report states that Man Utd are set to table a world-record bid for the 23-year-old over the coming days however, the Express goes onto state that Madrid boss Zidane is desperate to land his compatriot.
“I don’t know if he will come. Until August 31 [when the transfer window closes] anything can happen,” Zidane is quoted as saying by the Express.
“Everyone is interested in Pogba. He is a great footballer and when you are Madrid you always want the best players.
“But now he is not a Real Madrid player, he is a Juventus player so I can’t say anything more.”
The report goes onto say that Man Utd boss is keen to have the Pogba deal wrapped up quickly and is preparing Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic and Paris Saint-Germain’s Blase Matuidi as potential alternatives.
The 23-year-old previously played for Manchester United and made his senior debut in the 2011-12 season. However, the France international departed Old Trafford controversially after rejecting a contract and leaving to join Juve.
Pogba has provided 16 assists and found the back of the net on ten occasion in 49 appearances for Juventus last season. Pogba also played a major role in the France national team’s run to the Euro 2016 earlier this summer.
