Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin has seemingly ruled out an exit this summer after taking to Twitter to reveal his happiness at returning to club training.
The Spaniard was given extra time off after being part of his national team’s squad at Euro 2016 earlier this summer, but has now returned to pre-season training ahead of an important year for the Gunners.
As noted by The Mirror, the 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Manchester City ahead of the new campaign which would see him link up with compatriot Pep Guardiola, but it doesn’t appear as though he’s interested in leaving north London.
The Barcelona youth product was seen as an ideal signing for Guardiola as he looks to add pace and attacking threat down the flanks which is an important aspect of his team’s play, but The Mirror add that the Gunners were ‘livid’ with the Premier League rivals for unsettling their star man.
Bellerin was one of Arsene Wenger’s most consistent performers last season and it’s added that there was fresh talk of a new contract being negotiated when City’s interest first surfaced.
Whether or not he lands a new deal ahead of the campaign remains to be seen, but it seems fairly clear that both parties wish for the talented right-back to remain in north London.
Naturally, much can change very quickly in the transfer window, and so it isn’t entirely certain that Bellerin will still be an Arsenal player when the season gets underway.
Nevertheless, Arsenal fans will feel reassured by his post, while the club will undoubtedly have no desire to see him leave as he has proven that he’s capable of being an important part of their future for many years to come.
