Reports in France claim that Tottenham Hotspur have blocked a last-ditch attempt from Arsenal to hijack Clinton N’Jie’s prospective return to Ligue 1.
L’Equipe, cited in the Metro, claim that Spurs have agreed to loan the Cameroonian international to Marseille and dismissed Arsenal’s late interest.
Tottenham do not want to sell to their rivals, and the future of N’Jie is also intertwined with their swoop for winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, L’Equipe adds.
Nkoudou’s move from Marseille to White Hart Lane is expected to be confirmed soon, and Marseille seemingly want N’Jie to replace the 21-year-old.
Upon joining Tottenham last summer, N’Jie revealed to the Metro that he turned down a move to Arsenal, and the Gunners have now missed out again.
The 22-year-old failed to score in his debut season at Spurs, with injuries preventing him from starting a single Premier League game (eight substitute appearances).
