Man United ready to rival Chelsea & Guardiola; two Red Devils face axe if Euro 2016 star arrives

Leonardo Bonucci hasn't been at his best since leaving Juventus

Manchester United are understood to hold an interest in a second Juventus player, with Leonardo Bonucci on their shortlist as well as Paul Pogba.

ESPN reports that Bonucci’s name came up in discussions over a deal for Pogba, who has been linked with a return to Old Trafford for a world-record fee.

The Italian international has been linked with both Chelsea and Manchester City, who have had a £38m bid for the 29-year-old rejected, according to Sky Sports.

New City manager Pep Guardiola seems to have made Bonucci his number-one defensive target this summer after his outstanding performances at Euro 2016.

Jose Mourinho has already signed Eric Bailly to improve his centre-back options, but ESPN claims the Special One still sees room for improvement in that area.

Bonucci has been one of the best defenders in Europe for several years, and is a natural leader, which is why Juventus are asking for at least €60m, according to ESPN.

ESPN adds that Bonucci arriving at United would mean the end for either Phil Jones or Marcos Rojo, two defenders who have struggled to cement regular football.
