Fenerbahce have turned down a loan bid from Stoke City for Robin van Persie a source close to the player has told Emre Sarigul.
The Potters were closing in on a deal to sign Van Persie on a one-year loan however, following talks between his agent and Fenerbahce the two parties agreed that he would remain at the club over the summer.
Van Persie joined Fenerbahce on a three-year deal from Manchester United over the summer transfer window.
The Dutch striker has been closely linked with a move to the Premier League over recent weeks with Middlesbrough also showing an interest.
Van Persie has also been linked with fellow Premier League sides West Brom and West Ham.
The 32-year-old striker scored 16 times in the Super Lig last season helping the Istanbul giants finish as runner-up in the league.
Fenerbahce booked a place in the Champions League next season as a result and will take on Monaco in the third qualifying round.
