Alvaro Morata Spain

Chelsea’s bid for the Spain international striker Alvaro Morata has been rejected by Real Madird according to The Sun.

The daily tabloid paper states that the Blues tabled an offer of £63 million for the 23-year-old as their newly appointed manager Antonio Conte is keen to bolster his attacking options. Chelsea have already strengthened their attacking line up having signed Michy Batshuayi.

However, the La Liga giants turned down the offer after manager Zinedine Zidane stated that he has a place in the squad.

“As for [Alvaro] Morata he’s a player of this squad, he’s back and I’m glad about that,” Zidane was quoted as saying by the Sun.

“He’s home, he knows what it means to play here and I’m glad that he’s back with us. Alvaro is an added resource for our team.”

Madrid used a buy-back clause in order to sign Morata from Juventus for £25 million this summer. The 23-year-old striker who scored seven Serie A goals for Juventus last season, has also been targeted by Napoli according to the Sun.
