Jose Mourinho expects Paul Pogba signing as new Wayne Rooney role is revealed by Man United manager’s daughter

The daughter of Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho appears to have inadvertently revealed her dad’s tactical plans for the Red Devils.

Matilde Mourinho posted the photo below to Twitter yesterday. The image was seemingly just supposed to show Jose as he prepared to jet off for United’s preseason tour in China.

However, what was captured in the background was much more interesting.

A tactics board can be seen to Jose’s right. On it is a 4-2-3-1 formation with a list of players that can play in each position.

Not all positions are visible, but it looks fairly clear that Luke Shaw will be Mourinho’s first choice at left-back, while Chris Smalling is favoured ahead of Daley Blind in the left-sided centre-back slot.

That likely means Smalling will be partnered by new signing Eric Bailly.

Paul Pogba is scribbled down in midfield, amid intense transfer talk linking him with a move from Juventus.

The fact that Mourinho has took it upon himself to include Pogba in his tactical plans makes it quite clear that he expects a deal to be done.

Interestingly, Wayne Rooney – who played in midfield for United towards the end of last season, as well as for England at Euro 2016 – looks set for a no.10 role.

Anthony Martial has been earmarked for the left flank, with teenage hotshot Marcus Rashford in line for a starting spot up top.
