Chelsea threaten to report European rivals over lack of ‘respect’ shown

Recent reports have been linking Chelsea’s Diego Costa with a return to Atletico Madrid, but the Blues are unhappy with the La Liga side’s pursuit of their player and are considering taking legal action, according to The Sun.

Antonio Conte’s side are apparently unhappy with the nature of Atletico’s pursuit and the methods they’ve been using, with the stories coming from Madrid suggesting Costa is on his way back to the club and the player potentially being unfairly tapped up.

Chelsea have already made two complaints to the Spanish side, and have suggested that they will report them to Fifa if things continue on their current path.

“We’re writing to them again, a second time, but if this continues there are further options open to us, which includes reporting them to Fifa. We sincerely hope it does not go that far,” a Chelsea source said.

As the reports suggest, Costa has been labeled unsettled and unhappy at Chelsea, and it was hinted that he may be looking for an exit this summer. Conte insists there’s no truth in the stories, but can’t be 100% sure he’ll be at Chelsea next season.

“I have learned 100 per cent can never exist,” he said.

“Diego has not put in a transfer request  and is our player.

“He has shown that he is the strongest striker in the world. I’m sure that also when he gets into this idea of football he can score a lot of goals for us.

“I’d like that  others don’t speak of the players of my team. I know this period is strange. We respect all — but we want respect.”

It certainly doesn’t sound like Conte or Chelsea have any intention of letting Costa leave this summer, and it will be interesting to see whether the rumours persist now that Atletico have been threatened with legal action.
