Chelsea’s young defender Kenneth Omeruo is set to join the Turkish Super League champions Besiktas.
A source close to the player told Caught Offside’s Eren Sarigul that Besiktas have reached an agreement with Chelsea to loan the 22-year-old on a season-long loan and that Omeruo will arrive in Istanbul this week to undergo a medical.
The Nigerian international defender was one of 26 Chelsea players loaned out last season and one of two who joined Turkish Super Lig sides on a temporary move.
The powerful international is already familiar with Istanbul having played for city rivals Kasimpasa last season.
This will be the 22-year-old’s biggest test so far as he will be in a genuine title challenging side and play Champions League football for the first time.
Besiktas won the league title last season and go into the 2016-17 campaign as one of the bookmakers favourites.
Omeruo made 25 appearances in the Turkish Super League for Kasimpasa last season.
