Euro 2016 came to a conclusion last night as Portugal were crowned unlikely champions with their extra-time victory over devastated hosts France.
It was a tournament which had its moments of shock and drama, but it never really set alight because too many of the big-name players failed to turn up.

10. Arda Turan
Turkey were fancied as potential dark horses going into the tournament, but they never got going and were out in the group stage, partly because their talisman from Barcelona did not deliver.
9. Andriy Yarmolenko
Ukraine were another team that seriously underwhelmed. There may have been plenty of scouts watching the Dynamo Kiev winger, but few would have been impressed with what they saw.
8. Robert Lewandowski
The Bayern Munich striker was the leading marksman in qualifying with 13 goals, but managed only one in four games in France. Had he been on top form, Poland might have made the final, not Portugal.
7. Mario Gotze
It has been a difficult few seasons for Germany’s World Cup hero at club level. This was a chance for him to put that behind him but he looked completely bereft of confidence. No goals and no assists.
6. Raheem Sterling
Perhaps unfairly made a scapegoat for England’s early elimination, but Sterling was poor throughout and his campaign will raise even more questions about the Manchester City winger’s huge price tag.
5. David Alaba
Alaba has experienced nothing but success in recent years with club and country, but the Bayern Munich star was a major disappointment as Austria failed to win any of their games in a friendly Group F.
4. Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Manchester United fans may be concerned at how quiet Zlatan was at the tournament, failing to score as Sweden were knocked out in the group stage as he exited the international stage with a whimper.
3. Harry Kane
Tipped to be the spearhead of a successful England campaign, the Tottenham Hotspur striker looked tired and a shadow of the Premier League’s top scorer. Hopefully his international time will come.
2. Joe Hart
The Man City goalkeeper is supposed to be a senior member of the Three Lions squad, but he arguably made costly mistakes in three of England’s four games. His status as number one must now be in doubt.
1. Thomas Muller
One of the favourites to win the Golden Boot prior to the start of the tournament, Muller failed to score for the second Euros running and also missed in Germany’s shootout quarter-final win over Italy.
