Portugal must have feared the worst when Cristiano Ronaldo was carried off inside the opening half-hour of tonight’s Euro 2016 final against France.
However, substitute Eder has only gone and won it for Portugal with a fine long-range goal that was ‘so Ronaldo’.
Summoning the spirit of his injured captain, Eder shrugged off Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny before firing a low drive beyond Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
North London 0-1 Eder
Eder is still on the books at Swansea City, although he has not played for the Welsh side since January.
After failing to impress with the Swans, the 28-year-old was loaned out to Lille.
He scored six goals in 13 Ligue 1 games for Lille, possibly putting himself in the shop window.
If those six goals hadn’t done enough to resurrect Eder’s career, tonight’s Euros-winning worldie surely will.
