Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly ready to swoop for Borussia Dortmund star Jakub Blaszczykowski this summer after the Polish star impressed at Euro 2016.
The pair have previously worked together at the Bundesliga outfit, before the German tactician moved on to later take charge at Anfield, while his former player sealed a loan deal to Florence last season.
According to Bild, their paths could be about to cross again though, with the 30-year-old appearing on Liverpool’s transfer radar after impressing in France this summer and in Serie A last year.
It remains to be seen whether or not Blaszczykowski figures in Thomas Tuchel’s plans next season, as the Dortmund boss may decide to give him another opportunity with so much upheaval at the club.
Having lost senior figures such as Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan, the German outfit could well benefit from having the Polish international’s experience and leadership in their ranks to help them through what could be a difficult transitional phase.
Nevertheless, that won’t prevent Liverpool from asking the question about his availability, with Klopp looking to continue to bolster his squad ahead of next season.
The 49-year-old has already brought in the likes of Joel Matip and Sadio Mane this summer, and he’s certainly expected to oversee further changes in the coming weeks.
Whether that involves one of his former stars will be determined, but Blaszczykowski certainly has the characteristics to suggest that he would be a success in the Premier League with his work ethic and ability on the ball.
