Borussia Dortmund confirmed on Saturday that Henrikh Mkhitaryan had completed his move to Manchester United, but not without a parting shot.
It’s unlikely that there was any spite behind the Bundesliga giants’ post on Facebook, and it’s obviously another subtle and funny dig at a former player.
Having already trolled llkay Gundogan following his move to Manchester City last month by stating that he was leaving “the eight-time German champions to join Manchester City, who finished fourth in the Premier League last season,” Dortmund are back at it again.
Thomas Tuchel is overseeing quite the rebuild having also lost Mats Hummels this summer, and with Mkhitaryan also on his way out, they’ll need to steady the ship next year and allow their new faces to settle in.
Nevertheless, they couldn’t help but have another jab at a club buying one of their star players, reminding everyone that United will indeed be participating in the Europa League next season while they will of course feature in the Champions League.
