Leading Germany goalscorer Mario Gomez linked with West Ham United move

Despite fielding a team with Mesut Ozil, Mario Gotze, Thomas Muller, and Toni Kroos, Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez currently leads all Germany goalscorers in Euro 2016 with two goals. His strong play has led to Premier League links, and West Ham United appear to have jumped to the front of the line.

According to Sun Sport, Gomez has been linked with a move to West Ham United. Per CNN Turkey, Hammers manager Slaven Bilic has been keeping a close eye on the 30-year-old striker for the duration of Euro 2016.

Gomez spent the 2015-16 season on loan to Besiktas, where he scored 26 goals – his first since his 2011-12 campaign with Bayern Munich – en route to Super Lig Top Goalscorer honours and a Super Lig title for the club.

In 67 caps for Germany on the international level, Gomez has scored 29 total goals – including two in Euro 2016: one in the group stage during a 1-0 win over Northern Ireland and one against Slovakia in the knockout round.

West Ham’s leading scorer last season was Dimitri Payet, who scored 12 goals in all competitions. The leading striker for West Ham was Andy Carroll, who scored nine goals.
