Borussia Dortmund winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan appears closer than ever to completing a deal with Manchester United.
According to the Daily Mail, Mkhitaryan’s agent Mino Raiola held talks with Dortmund last week over a move for the Armenian winger. Per the source, Dortmund have relented and are ready to sell their leader in assists from last season for approximately £26 million.
Dortmund executive Hans-Joachim Watzke said in an interview with Kicker that the club would discuss the situation with Mkhitaryan this week and assess the situation of their 27-year-old winger, who has just one year left on his current deal.
‘We will assess his situation this week,’ Watzke said. ‘We need to discuss it. It is a difficult decision.’
Mkhitaryan scored 11 goals and made 15 assists as Dortmund finished second in the Bundesliga – their highest finish since the 2013-14 season.
If the move is completed, Mkhitaryan would be Man United’s second signing of the summer after the team acquired Eric Bailly from Villarreal earlier this summer.
The Daily Mail noted that former Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also expected to join Man United soon on a free transfer.
