Chelsea will look to start a successful new era this summer as incoming boss Antonio Conte plots a way to get them back to the top of English football.
The Blues will be absent from European competition after their disappointing campaign last year, and so the focus will be on domestic matters for the next nine months or so.
Conte has been linked with a whole host of individuals already this summer, but while the fanciful rumours suggest huge fees and big-name players are on the way, here are five players that could realistically join the Italian coach at Stamford Bridge ahead of his first year in charge.
Alvaro Morata, Paul Pogba and Leonardo Bonucci are just a few of the high-profile names linked with moving to west London, but they remain ambitious and arguably unrealistic options.
John Stones
The Everton defender was linked with a move to Chelsea last summer, and although Jose Mourinho has moved on since, the club could still value him highly and make their offer to rival the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City.
Stephan Lichtsteiner
Having established himself as a key member of Conte’s squad at Juventus, the Swiss international could be on the move this summer. The Bianconeri are set to bring in Dani Alves, in turn potentially pushing Lichtsteiner out. Would be a consistent and solid presence on the right flank for Chelsea.
Stefano Sturaro
Despite making just a handful of appearances for Juve last season, Conte took Sturaro to Euro 2016. With the Turin giants already signing Miralem Pjanic this summer, their midfield is stacked. Could that in turn allow Conte to move for the energetic and combative midfielder that he evidently rates so highly?
Antonio Candreva
The Lazio man ticks plenty of boxes for Conte. His industrious nature and work ethic off the ball makes him important defensively, while his quality on the ball can be decisive. His style would certainly suit the Premier League.
Romelu Lukaku
Linked with a return to Stamford Bridge after failing to establish himself at the club first time round. Has improved significantly and matured during his time with Everton, and he would be a prolific presence up front with or without Diego Costa still in the squad.
