A striker has been top of Spurs fans’ wish-lists for well over a year. And – if this Tottenham transfer news is to be trusted – finally it seems as though those supporters are to get their wishes granted.
Tottenham went through the whole of last season with Harry Kane as their only senior striker.
Son Heung-min and Nacer Chadli briefly tried – unconvincingly – to pretend that they were adequate makeshift frontmen, while Clinton N’Jie was unable to make one Premier League start as he battled fitness issues, as well as a lack of quality.
Fortunately for Spurs, Kane was superb. The indestructible England star started every single League game and took home the Golden Boot for the side who finished 3rd.
However, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men now in the Champions League, it would be incredibly reckless to place so much pressure on Kane alone for another campaign.
The poor bloke needs some support, which looks like it is about to be provided by 20-year-old Paraguayan international Antonio Sanabria.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Sanabria has reached an agreement with Spurs.
Sanabria currently belongs to Roma, but he spent last season on loan at Sporting Gijon, scoring 11 La Liga goals.
Gazzetta report that Roma want €15m for Sanabria.
