Manchester United transfer latest: Shock Arsenal raid, Mkhitaryan drama, serious Zlatan competition

It is expected to be a busy transfer window at Manchester United this summer as Jose Mourinho comes in to try to reestablish the Red Devils as a major force once again.

Some of the biggest names in the world of football are being tipped to move to Old Trafford. Here, CaughtOffside rounds up today’s most interesting United-related rumours.

Antoine Griezmann

Let’s start with the bad news. It now looks highly unlikely that United, or anybody else for that matter, will be signing Antoine Griezmann anytime soon because the France forward has penned a new contract at Atletico Madrid until 2021. The 25-year-old had been tipped as a Mourinho target.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Mkhitaryan sees United as a dream move and is trying to engineer his way out of Borussia Dortmund, but negotiations aren’t going too smoothly, apparently! According to The Mirror, the Armenian’s agent Mino Raiola got so heated in the last round of discussions with Dortmund that he threw a chair!

Aaron Ramsey

If Raiola’s furniture throwing is not enough to force through Mkhitaryan’s move to Manchester, then The Sun understands that Jose Mourinho will go after Aaron Ramsey in a shock raid on Arsenal, who would be highly reluctant to sell the Welsh midfielder, but the £50m fee quoted could persuade them.

Ezequiel Garay

Bookmaker BetStars have received strong support for the Zenit St Petersburg defender to move to United, with trading director Ian Marmion saying: “He could be the perfect fit as Jose looks to bring in defensive reinforcements. After heavy backing in the last 24 hours, Manchester United are now the clear favourite for his signature at 15/8. We’re calling it – expect to see Garay at Old Trafford next season.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

With Sweden out of Euro 2016, Zlatan’s potential move to United could pick up pace. But Football Italia claim that AC Milan, who enjoyed the striker’s unique gifts between 2010 and 2012, are prepared to offer Ibrahimovic €11m to return for one season. Could they yet hijack Zlatan’s reunion with Mourinho?
