Manchester United are reportedly monitoring both Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann and Sevilla striker Kevin Gameiro this summer.
It promises to be a busy few months at Old Trafford, with new manager Jose Mourinho expected to make changes to his squad ahead of his first season in charge.
According to ESPN FC, that could involve moves for Griezmann and Gameiro, although given their importance to their respective clubs, it isn’t going to be easy for the Red Devils to prise them away.
It’s noted that Mourinho is keen on bringing in a pacy player that can be deployed on the wing and help lead quick counter-attacks at the club next season, a profile that Griezmann ultimately fits very well.
Meanwhile, Gameiro has done an excellent job for Sevilla since joining the club from Paris Saint-Germain in 2013, although perhaps he will be the ‘easier’ of the two to sign given the appeal of making the step up in joining United.
Both men were in brilliant form last season, with Griezmann scoring 32 goals in the campaign while his fellow La Liga star found the back of the net on 29 occasions in all competitions.
In turn, it makes perfect sense as to why Mourinho would be keen on the pair, although it remains to be seen how much truth is behind the report and whether or not it is likely that United will realistically be able to sign them both.
Mourinho will look to make changes to his group this summer as he looks for individuals well suited to his preferred system and style of play, and there is certainly no denying that Griezmann and Gameiro fit the bill.
The former will be focused on the more immediate task of performing well at Euro 2016 as of next week, and so any news on his future will likely have to wait until after the tournament.
