Harry Redknapp has suggested to Sky Sports that Marcus Rashford’s inclusion in the England squad is a mistake because he cannot see the 18-year-old playing at Euro 2016.
Roy Hodgson named the Manchester United prodigy in his final 23 on Tuesday, omitting Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater and Newcastle United winger Andros Townsend.

But Redknapp would be surprised if Rashford does little other than watch England’s four other strikers – Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy, Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge – from the sidelines.
He told Sky Sports: “In all honesty, I can’t really see him playing. I like him and he’s going to be a real player in the future.
“But we’ve got Kane, we’ve got Vardy, we’ve got Sturridge, we’ve got Rooney – I think he (Hodgson) has got a lot of options up front.
“I wouldn’t see Rashford getting a game and I’ll be surprised if he gets too much, if any, games personally.”
While Hodgson has an array of forwards to choose from, he only has three recognised centre-backs and one genuine holding midfielder in his squad for the tournament in France.
Drinkwater, who enjoyed a superb season for Premier League champions Leicester, would have provided ideal midfield cover for if Eric Dier is required to drop into defence.
Therefore it is easy to understand why Redknapp thinks that Rashford’s selection was unnecessary, despite the teenager scoring three minutes into his England debut against Australia.
It appeared for a long time as though Redknapp would be the man picking England squads, before Hodgson was chosen as successor to Fabio Capello in the build-up to Euro 2012.
The then-Tottenham Hotspur boss was heavily touted for the Three Lions gig, and confessed to BBC Sport following Hodgson’s appointment that he would have accepted an offer.
