Fresh competition for Liverpool, Man United target as Barcelona defender’s release clause drops by €32m

Sevilla are understood to have set their sights on Barcelona defender Marc Bartra as the stopper enters the final year of his contract.

The Spain international has managed just 13 league appearances for Luis Enrique’s side this term, of which only four have been starts.

While he has impressed when called upon, the 25-year-old looks no closer to breaking into Barca’s first team, even though Dani Alves could be heading towards this exit door this summer.

As such, Bartra has been heavily linked with a move away from the Catalan giants, with both Liverpool and Manchester United understood to be keen on his services.

However, both Premier League heavyweights face fresh competition for the defender—who can play in the heart of the defence or on the right—with Mucho Deporte revealing that Sevilla are keen on signing the stopper ahead of their Champions League campaign next term.

The Spanish side—who beat Liverpool in the Europa League final—will surely be encouraged by the news that Bartra’s fee release clause has dropped from €40 million to €8 million as he enters the final year of his contract.
