Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final, Real Madrid‘s Marcelo has insisted that the tiniest details will decide the match.
Los Blancos saw off Wolfsburg and Manchester City in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively to reach the final.
They will now meet Atletico Madrid in the final at the San Siro, Lombardy, in a rematch of the 2014 final, which Los Merengues won in extra time to claim their record tenth European title, a game in which Marcelo scored.
Speaking ahead of the match, the Brazil international has insisted that the smallest details will decide the contest.
“We’re feeling as good as we could,” the left-back began, speaking to the media ahead of the match [as per Goal]. “We’re ready, prepared and I think we’ll fair quite well.
“I think in a final what decides the game is the small details and we’re thinking of all those,” he continued. “Everyone wants to win, you need to work and run a lot and I think the small details are what’s going to make a difference.”
Real, who were pipped to the Spanish title by eternal rivals Barcelona, will be confident of seeing off their city rivals, having finished above them in La Liga.
Similarly, Marcelo has admitted that their triumphant performance in the final two years ago—a game in which the Selecao star found the net—will be on the players’ minds.

“It’s impossible not to think of that game. It was very special,” he continued. “I personally believe that it’s in the past, it’s over now and it’s another final.
“[On Saturday] we have a chance to live a great day for us, but in order to do that we need to fight because it’s the Champions League final and it’s always very difficult to win.”
