Beckham recommends Real Madrid coach for next year should they lose Champions League final

Former Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham has insisted that it’s imperative that his former club keep hold of Zinedine Zidane beyond the end of the season.

Indeed, Becks is so confident that his former teammate is the right man for the job, that he’s urged Florentino Perez to keep hold of the Blancos legend even if Real lose the UCL final.

While Zizou is adored by the Real faithful after starring for the side and helping them to the European Cup in 2002, he will be aware that the club’s president Perez doesn’t tolerate failure lightly, and having missed out on La Liga, could find himself under pressure if Real lose next weekend’s final showpiece to city rivals Atletico Madrid.

However, Beckham, who played alongside Zidane at the Bernabeu, has urged the club to keep hold of the rookie coach regardless of the outcome of the showpiece on May 28.

“Madrid need stability and continuity would be nice,” the former England skipper told XL Semanal. “Even if he doesn’t win the Champions League, it would be good to give Zizou some time to let it work.

“Stability is the key,” Beckham added. “It’s something basic in all aspects of life and business.”

Beckham moved to Real in 2003 after leaving Manchester United, and played alongside Zidane until the latter’s retirement in 2006.
