Borussia Dortmund winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan has emerged into one of Bundesliga’s most versatile attackers – and one of its most durable as well. In just three years with the club the 27-year-old Armenian has played in 136 matches for Dortmund and scored 40 goals for them. Luckily for potential suitors Arsenal, Mkhitaryan has just given them a major boost towards his potential transfer.
According to the Metro via Armenpress, Mkhitaryan has turned down a contract extension offer from Dortmund and will not sign any new deal for the club this summer. His current contract is set to expire in summer 2017.
Arsenal have reportedly already made contact with Mkhitaryan’s agent about the possibility of a transfer in 2016, but may face competition from arch-rivals Chelsea, who are also interested.
Mkhitaryan scored 11 goals for Dortmund this past season, his highest with the club since leaving Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013. Prior to joining Jurgen Klopp’s side, he scored 25 goals and a league title the Ukrainian Premier League giants.
