Speaking after his final league game with Bayern Munich, new Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has compared his time in Germany to life at Barcelona.
Ahead of his arrival at the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola’s managerial career has been spent at two clubs; the former deep-lying playmaker began his career in Catalonia, before moving to Bayern in 2013 following a sabbatical year out of the game.
Speaking to beIN Sport after Bayern’s final match of the season—a 3-1 home victory over Hannover 96 on Saturday—Guardiola has compared the two experiences.
“I learned a lot,” the Bundesliga-winning coach began, “it was completely different than in Barcelona, a great experience.
“I’m a better coach,” he continued, “a little bit.
“It was very good for me, for my development,” Guardiola added.”
While the Spanish coach can look back with considerable pride on his time in Germany, he failed in arguably his ultimate requirement; bringing the Champions League crown back to the Allianz Arena.
