Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel Di Maria broke the Ligue 1 assists record on Saturday as he set up two goals as the French champions beat Nantes.
PSG ended their rampant campaign in style with a 4-0 demolition of the Canaries at the Parc des Princes, with Di Maria stealing the show as he has done regularly this season.
The Argentina international set up the opening goal—scored by departing hero Zlatan Ibrahimovic—before feeding Lucas Moura to double PSG’s lead on 43 minutes.
The two assists took Di Maria up to 18 for the season, breaking the record set by Marvin Martin of Sochaux in the 2010-11 campaign.
Di Maria has enjoyed a fine season in France, winning the Ligue 1 title and the Coupe de la Ligue.
His fine form raises major questions about Louis van Gaal’s decision to axe the wideman last summer after one just one season at Manchester United.
